"I look at things as shapes of color and light; therefore I am happy to paint anything that stirs my heart and mind. I strive for a mix of realism and looseness I find emotionally and visually satisfying. Life gets in the way of my painting often but I persevere anyway."

What a powerful piece. Thank you for sharing Childe Hassam on your blog.
I'm signed up!
This is a WONDERFUL painting!!! I'm waving my little flag and saluting.
T, I don't think I've ever seen that painting before. It's absolutely WOW! Maybe my senses are heightened today, but...WOW! Thanks for sharing. I can't wait to research Childe Hassam. Thanks for everything.
Love, L
Hi Theresa,
I was teaching today. There were
technical difficulties with the big
screen in the cafeteria where they
planned to show the inauguration speech. So I went to the computer in the office I share, and got the speech live on streaming video. For most of the speech it was just me and Obama. I was saying mmm hmm and agreeing with him, and giving him the thumbs up at every point. Then a former student came in and listened to the end of it with me.
So moving, and amazing.
Whew! Let out your breath now, and
let's give peace a chance. You and I, and all of us have been waiting a long time.
Love your blog, your writing,
your thinking, and of course your work.

Theresa, is there a grammatical word that correctly describes
" goosebumpery " as a state of perpetual and heightened goosebumps?
Because I've got them.
This painting you've shared with us is the quintessential representation of all that we knew we could be. And now will be.
I was not a flag wearer or waver for the last many years. My passport will no longer have to be surreptitiously be removed from my purse.
What an amazing turn for all of us. My oh my.
You can imagine that living on a small island in this part of the world, I'm so aware of how powerful perception is. We've all been empowered by this enormous event and so lucky to be alive to witness it.
A great post, as always.
Theresa I made the the animated logo with the link to usaservice.org you're welcome to it.
My Pleasure Dominique!! Childe Hassam's work has always appealed to me! When things settle down here I will get around and see what everyone is up to!
Good for you Erika...if we expect to change America we will all have to lend a hand!
Good Sheila!! The painting was pretty much saying it all for me...When things settle down here I will get around and see what you are up to!
No problem, Lori...Childe Hassam is just another in my long list of faves!! Glad you like him!
Barabara...crazy busy lately and gone from the house a lot...but by Wednesday I will have sufficient time to answer you properly...Thank you for your genuine affection and good heartedness! We are thrilled in this house!
Bonnie...be "goosebumpery"....we all are and like you the I love my country ...but was horrified by the way it was being run...we have called do-overs by our vote here! We have already changed the face of our nation and how we are viewed....I am thrilled to see it and all to come.
Erika, thank you, sweetie!!! I will get put on my blog next chance right now I have to leave for Joplin!
