A Passion For......

What a very nice surprise I have received from another artist and recent blog follower! Thank you Ann Buckner for your thoughtfulness in awarding me this honor. You must run over and see Ann's work as soon as possible. First off the Koi that head her page will knock your socks off..she also has some lovely portraits and sketches. Also you must read her 7 things to gain insight into her generous and sweet soul.
I must now relate the seven things I am passionate about and then award this to 7 other artists. This always is so hard because everyone deserves it for one reason or another. Some because they are just learning and that struggle requires passion....some because they are so very accomplished and still remain fresh and energized...others because of the conditions and space they must work in and still produce excellent work. There are also those that give and share much of there information with us...and then there are those that I want to learn from because they are doing the things I love.
So first here are 7 things I am passionate about:
1. Fairness and generosity of spirit...the real kind...not the self-serving kind.
2. Painting or more plainly put....creating.
3. My life and my family...which goes back to creating
4. Gardening....which also goes back to creating
5. The feeling of being cherished and honored
6. Having a belief system and honoring it
7. Old stuff...anything...from furniture to advertising art to bits of metal, glass and fabric...I know odd...but it all fascinates me and I get a wonderful feeling from them all!
There is a whole lot more but I am only allowed 7.

And now the artists...they are all passionate and knowledgeable and express themselves very well...they are all...I believe genuinely nice people...they also do something for me...some know they do others have no clue. I really wanted to nominate about 50 artists:
Barbara Muir
Terry Miura
Bonnie Luria
David Lobenberg
Jennifer McChristian
Marc Hanson
Eldon Warren

I know that time is at a premium...we all have busy if you feel you cannot respond that's Okay!!
I am hard at work here coming up with some new work...but some of you have never seen some of my for a little change here are a few of my photos!
Have a picture perfect day!

Theresa, coming from you, this is really meaningful to me. And next to Terry Miura and everyone else on your select list too! Wow.

Thank you. I'm having a Sally Field moment here.

Your photo Waiting for the One shows the same artistic lens that you apply in your paintings.

I visit your blog not just for your creative expression which is so fine, but the spirit of your writing.

Can't promise to pass this on- I'm away for family reasons for a week but I'll treasure the tap of your wand.

I'm back. Is that VW "photo" a painting? Photo or painting, I still love it.

I'll say it again.... well deserved. I love that you posted artists that I have yet to discover!

Hi Theresa,

I gave it right back to you. I can't leave you off my list. It just wouldn't be right. So some people -- like you will win double, and that seems only right.

Great photos! I especially love the VW logo--I was never a car person, but I bought a Beetle two years ago and have been in love with it ever since!!

And I am thrilled you like my photography....I had a few classes way, way back in college. But a man I knew from Australia was a real inspiration and a good mate (friend).

Trevor you are a dear...I am more than honored that you are following...the end of my talents? I suck at advanced math and a few other things!

Theresa Rankin said...

Thank you Bonnie for your fine comments...and if you cannot pass this on that too is just fine...I understand! The spirit of my writing eh? I have been a little short on the creative side there but hope to get back into the swing once I get a few of these new paintings under my belt!

Thank you Laura...I owned a VW for the 15 years I lived in Hawaii...I loved it. It was an old 59 in fantastic shape. It the handle in down by your feet that would release an extra gallon of gas when you ran out. It went through three motors that I know of and my 36 year old son in Hawaii drives it till today.

Congrats for the award, Theresa. You deserve it. Alas, more talented artists to visit. I'm glued to this chair as it is!!

P.S. You take great photos, too?? "Waiting for the one" looks like it could be a painting. The year I graduated high school, my father bought me a used Volkswagen bug convertible. It was lime green, and the horn was broken so it would go off by itself now and then. And, usually when my girlfriends and I were passing by some cute boys:) Smart car. I wish I kept it.

I like to think I take a fair photograph but I admit your work blows my doors right off. I love the feel of "El Hombre Sale Del Sol" it seems familiar.

Theresa Rankin said...

LOL! Nancy...that was a clever car and I too still long for my old was just so easy to get around in. the photo you mentioned was intended as a painting.. I have done several of that old bar that no longer exists. I may still paint it...the woman in the picture is one of my oldest and dearest friends. We were as some might say partners in our single days!

Theresa Rankin said...

Wow Eldon!! Thank you...the man taught me what I know about photography said...."Painters make excellent photographers....but photographers cannot necessarily paint." I am not surprised you take a darn good photo...I have seen them! The photo you refer to was taken at Big Bend National Park...where I went camping by myself and had a blast painting and hiking and taking photos all over the place...I just love that place! This is a little town that is actually in the park (which is in itself huge)...quite old and somewhat desolate. The man appeared to be napping against the wall when I took the picture! Thank you so much I am glad you like it!!
